How an American businessman used private jets to traffic $1B worth of drugs for the Sinaloa Cartel across USA
He trafficked across the country using small airports and exploiting some security blindspots
Robert Carlson, a California businessman who dreamed of becoming the cocaine king of the skies, used private jets to funnel a billion dollars' worth of cartel drugs through smaller airports across the country — exploiting a security blind spot.
He did it over and over again, profiting off a rarely policed mode of transportation. And when he was finally busted in 2017 in Lexington, it wasn't because of the X-ray scanner or drug-sniffing dog. That level of security at private and secondary airports just isn't there.
Instead, an informant tipped off federal agents and blew up one of the nation's largest airborne domestic smuggling rings — one in which Carlson moved drugs for three years for the Sinaloa Cartel.
A closer look at Carlson's case — provided through federal court transcripts and interviews with prosecutors and agents — exposes gaping holes in security at the majority of the nation's more than 2,500 general aviation airports, where there are no Transportation Security Administration checkpoints.
Kenneth Martinson, a retired Homeland Security Investigations agent who is considered one of the godfathers of plane smuggling cases, said the task of policing private planes "does fall through the cracks."
"The next time you look up and see one, wonder to yourself: 'Where’s it going? Where’d it come from, and what’s on board?'
"There’s a good chance it could be illicit narcotics.”
TSA — created after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks — focuses on securing flights at the nation's 440 major airports that host commercial fleets such as Delta and American Airlines. If TSA agents find drugs during screenings of passengers or luggage, they alert police.
These security measures don't exist at the majority of the secondary airports, which host much of the nation's 200,000 general aviation aircraft — more than half of the world's private planes.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Dmitriy Slavin explained the risks to the Eastern Kentucky judge overseeing Carlson's case.
"Nobody is scanning your luggage," he said. "You get on, you fly over, you get off. You move your drugs. That is a huge problem because it's so easy, and it's very difficult to stop, just because of the nature of these small airports."
In just a four-month period in 2017, Carlson moved $60 million in drug profits out of Atlanta to California, said Thor Whitmore, an Atlanta-based Homeland Security Investigations special agent.
"And that's just out of Atlanta," he said. "The Carlson case was a big eye-opener."
Agents say the majority of drugs spread across the country are hidden on trucks or tucked into packages sent through the mail, so law enforcement officials focus their efforts on policing major highways and screening mail. They also concentrate on drug searches at Mexico border crossings.
It's impossible to quantify the volume of drugs on board private planes that are never searched.
The Drug Enforcement Administration cautioned in its 2019 National Drug Threat Assessment that, with cocaine "more and more, traffickers are utilizing private airplanes and secondary airports" that have less security. The DEA also warned that traffickers use personal planes to fly marijuana produced in states where it's legal to states where it's not.
Hiding drugs on jets isn't new. Agents noticed the trend as far back as the 1970s.
The Carlson private plane drug ring is one of the largest of its kind since the 1980s, when the crime was depicted on the popular TV show "Miami Vice," said Whitmore, a federal agent for 27 years.
After the 1990s, traffickers shifted toward moving drugs on land to avoid police crackdowns on aircraft. But during the past few years, police began to notice an increase in private aircraft drug cases.
Despite a continuation of the deadliest drug epidemic in the nation's history, there still hasn't been a significant push to prevent the spread of drugs using private planes.

Experts cite two main reasons: a lack of security resources and an ask-no-questions culture enjoyed by the jet set.
A debate underway for decades centers on how to increase security to screen for bombs, drugs or other contraband, while maintaining the privacy and convenience expected by elite travelers.
Congress' think tank, the Congressional Research Service, noted in 2009 that discussions about imposing restrictions have been "highly contentious."
"That’s what attracts people to either owning their own aircraft or chartering a private plane, to avoid that scrutiny because it’s a hassle," Whitmore said. "They don’t stand in a long line and get frisked."
Some members of Congress are themselves pilots, and others frequently use private jets.
And pilots and the general aviation community have a strong lobby, including the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, or AOPA, the world’s largest aviation organization, with 330,000 members. It stresses freedom over restrictions.
"The AOPA is the NRA of flying," Martinson said. "They’re a powerful voice, and they are heard."
The 'Loco gringo'Robert Walter Carlson, Jr., 50, is an extreme example of how a criminal can easily find and capitalize on security weaknesses at secondary airports across the nation.
He was driven by greed.
Carlson had an $8 million mansion, drove a red Ferrari and socialized with Hollywood’s A-list. He claimed to have once befriended neighbor and legendary actor Dick Van Dyke.
But his job as a computer networking specialist couldn't sustain his luxury lifestyle.
So he cooked up a scheme in 2014 to cart Northern California marijuana on private planes, according to federal records reviewed by The Courier Journal. He met a Mexican drug smuggler associated with the Sinaloa Cartel, one of Mexico's most powerful cartel empires.
Carlson realized he could make more money and lessen the risk of getting caught by moving cocaine instead of a suitcases full of pot, which is bulky and smelly. So he asked the cartel associate to vouch for him and introduce him to cartel leaders in Mexico.
Carlson arrived at a four-star hotel in Guadalajara in early 2016 and was greeted by a man who appeared to be a police officer on the cartel's payroll. The man said Carlson wouldn't be harmed but had to be blindfolded.
The cartel was looking for new opportunities to move cocaine and other drugs after repeated police stings on U.S. highways like Interstate 10, a major drug corridor that stretches from California to Florida. Cartels like to team with U.S. citizens, especially a "gringo" who could blend in with other wealthy passengers on private jets.
Carlson boasted that he could be the "FedEx of the white skies," promising a network of private pilots who could offer a faster turn-around time to deliver cocaine and fly back to California with drug profits. By land, it often took weeks. Carlson could do it in two days.
Carlson also could lessen the risks of a drug bust. If the cartel sent drugs from Mexico on a private jet, it would have to clear a U.S. customs search. Carlson could avoid that scrutiny by picking up cartel drugs driven across the border to California and then making only domestic flights.

Sinaloa members and Carlson celebrated their billion-dollar partnership over tacos and bottled Coca-Colas in a tiny restaurant in Los Mochis, a coastal city in the cartel-controlled state of Sinaloa.
Back in the U.S., Carlson hurriedly built his network. He partnered with Katharine Matthews, a Hollywood socialite who partied in the same social circles with pop stars like Katy Perry and Justin Bieber, actor Leonardo DiCaprio and rapper Snoop Dogg.
Carlson recruited others wanting quick cash, including several pilots, a model, a chef and an Army combat veteran, records show.
Carlson knew there was a sharp contrast in the scrutiny for those flying private compared with passengers stepping foot on a commercial flight. There's no photo ID required, no ticket confirmation, no pat-downs in security lines. And there's no baggage screening.
On a small private aircraft, passengers typically don't even have to give their names. Even if pilots fill out a manifest, they don't have to ask to see identification to verify passengers are giving their real names.
And, on a private plane, the pilot can refuse to allow law enforcement on board — something Carlson knew and exploited.
To further lessen the risks of getting caught, Carlson offered to pay a dozen pilots extra to fly the drugs across the country. Only one said no. Carlson looked for those who complained of money problems. He stayed away from "law nerds" who followed rules.
Carlson also forked out hush money to ground crews that fueled planes and unloaded luggage.
Along with owning various planes, Carlson used chartered jets, too. Sometimes, he made drug runs unbeknownst to the plane owners and pilots.
Carlson and his team made drug deliveries at noncommercial airports in Atlanta; New York City; Bessemer, Alabama; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Michael Romagnoli, a group supervisor for Homeland Security Investigations in Northern Kentucky, led the Carlson probe and discovered how the drug ring flourished for so long using secondary airports.
"It's not a security lapse," he said. "There is no security. There's no dogs. No police. No TSA."
Over time, Carlson became reckless, bragging that he ran drugs for a Mexican cartel. He once took a woman he met on a dating app to Mexico for their second date to meet cartel members. Ultimately, someone Carlson confided in tipped off police.
A few weeks before his arrest, Carlson started flying methamphetamine.
His cartel fixer sent two meth shipments destined for Lexington, known internationally for horse farms and thoroughbred racetracks.
Carlson, now in prison, quipped while testifying during his co-defendants' trial in March: "I got paid for the first trip. On the second trip, the only thing I got was this orange jumpsuit."
When Carlson's plane landed on the second trip to a small airstrip in Lexington in April of 2017, state troopers and federal agents were waiting.
Acting on a tip, police watched the passengers move suitcases from the plane to a black BMW and drive off, ignoring a red light. Police stopped the car, and a drug-detecting dog sniffed out 40 pounds of meth.
The dog also sniffed out three suitcases on the plane stuffed with an estimated 80 kilos of cocaine — the second-largest cocaine bust in Kentucky history. Those drugs had been destined for Atlanta and Miami.
Carlson planned to spend the night at a luxury hotel but ended up in a jail cell.
The investigation led to the conviction of Carlson, Matthews and five others, including a man who helped launder the money and a pilot who had to forfeit his million-dollar jet.
"In this case we arrested the rich, the elite, privileged people that were exploiting this method of travel," Romagnoli said.
Carlson pleaded guilty in 2017 to trafficking 5 or more kilos, though he estimates he moved hundreds. His attorney, Patrick Nash, declined to discuss the case. He is waiting to see if the judge will agree to reduce Carlson's sentence of 16 years and eight months in a federal prison, where parole is not an option.
Carlson spent several days detailing his three years of drug smuggling to prosecutors and police. Many of those secrets remain hidden in sealed court documents.
Using Carlson's information, investigators continue to drill down to identify and prosecute the local distributors who bought drugs from Carlson in Lexington, Atlanta, New York, Miami and other cities. And they're trying to work their way up the chain to the cartel suppliers in Mexico and cartel associates in the U.S.
Gorman, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations, helped send Carlson to prison and is already looking for his next airborne drug smuggling case.
"On any given day, in our skies, there is probably contraband moving from coast to coast," he said.
"There’s guns, aliens and drugs."
An orange grove of drugsSecuring the nation's 2,500 secondary airports, and intercepting illegal drugs remains a challenge.
Customs agents seized 67 kilograms of illegal drugs on private planes in fiscal year 2019, compared with nearly 57 seized the previous year, according to Customs and Border Protection data.
That's just a small percentage of the volume traffickers move on private planes, agents said.
A senior DEA official, who spoke on background, said the agency focuses more on international flights moving larger amounts, up to multitons of cocaine to North and Central America from the Andean and Southern Cone regions. DEA relies on other federal agencies, like Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Aviation Administration, to target smaller shipments on flights within the U.S.

Whitmore said Homeland Security Investigations doesn't have the manpower to police all secondary airports.
"TSA, that would alleviate a lot," he said. "But it would just kick 'em down to smaller airports to avoid it."
Some airports are so small they don't have towers or staff at night. There also are countless airstrips in cornfields, deserts, pastures and backyards that are never registered with any federal agency. Florida agents found two prop jets that landed in tandem in an orange grove northwest of Orlando in 2010 with $800,000 worth of marijuana.
Since TSA doesn't have the resources to screen at the majority of the smaller airports, the agency released guidelines on security measures, but they aren't mandatory. And they were developed in collaboration with the AOPA and several other aviation associations.
Christopher Cooper, AOPA's director of regulatory affairs based in Washington, D.C., said most pilots are honest and willing to help police root out those who aren't.
AOPA partnered with TSA in 2002 to create a secure hotline — 1-866-GASECURE — to encourage airport managers, pilots and ground crew to report possible dangers or crimes.
TSA’s Transportation Security Operation Center staff have received 336 calls to the hotline since 2018, said TSA spokesman R. Carter Langston.
Homeland Security also has eyes monitoring aircraft at the Mexican border and on international and domestic flights through the Security's Air and Marine Operations Center.
Also, the FAA is working to train local, state and federal agents on suspicious behaviors at noncommercial airports, said Steven Tochterman, a veteran FAA special agent who helped on the Carlson case.
"The bad guys are always looking to exploit the loophole," he said.
"And we’re trying to shut it down.”

2020.09.15 06:07 CrazyPlato Things You Should Know About: The Rogue Class

Hey all,
I'm trying to start a series of articles about different topics in D&D and similar RPGs. Specifically, I want to bring some context to terms that have become really common in these kinds of stories, but it feels like we might not know much about in reality (words like paladin, monk, lock-picking, pirate, barbarian, etc). And while I'm at it, I have a number of thoughts about a lot of these topics which I would bring to my players to shape how they view their characters and the setting they're playing in.
Quick shoutout, but a lot of my inspiration for this stuff comes from Gm Word of the Week. It's a podcast I've been listening to for a few years now, and it's full of insightful stuff like this from Fiddleback. And if you want to branch out from that, one of the collaborators on the early episodes of that podcast is The Angry GM, who writes a lot of articles on the subject of playing D&D. I'll probably get my research from other sources, but I already know that a lot of the stuff I bring up will come from these guys, so I figure I'll go ahead and source them (plus, if you aren't already checking their stuff out, they're pretty great even after several years of content).
This time, we're going to talk about the rogue class, and what they're all about.
The Rogue in 5e
The 5e PHB has this to say about rogues (Please be aware, this quote comes from the Rogue page on DnD Beyond, a free recourse provided by Wizards of the Coast):
Signaling for her companions to wait, a halfling creeps forward through the dungeon hall. She presses an ear to the door, then pulls out a set of tools and picks the lock in the blink of an eye. Then she disappears into the shadows as her fighter friend moves forward to kick the door open.
A human lurks in the shadows of an alley while his accomplice prepares for her part in the ambush. When their target — a notorious slaver — passes the alleyway, the accomplice cries out, the slaver comes to investigate, and the assassin’s blade cuts his throat before he can make a sound.
Suppressing a giggle, a gnome waggles her fingers and magically lifts the key ring from the guard’s belt. In a moment, the keys are in her hand, the cell door is open, and she and her companions are free to make their escape.>>Rogues rely on skill, stealth, and their foes’ vulnerabilities to get the upper hand in any situation. They have a knack for finding the solution to just about any problem, demonstrating a resourcefulness and versatility that is the cornerstone of any successful adventuring party.
Skill and Precision
Rogues devote as much effort to mastering the use of a variety of skills as they do to perfecting their combat abilities, giving them a broad expertise that few other characters can match. Many rogues focus on stealth and deception, while others refine the skills that help them in a dungeon environment, such as climbing, finding and disarming traps, and opening locks.
When it comes to combat, rogues prioritize cunning over brute strength. A rogue would rather make one precise strike, placing it exactly where the attack will hurt the target most, than wear an opponent down with a barrage of attacks. Rogues have an almost supernatural knack for avoiding danger, and a few learn magical tricks to supplement their other abilities.
A Shady Living
Every town and city has its share of rogues. Most of them live up to the worst stereotypes of the class, making a living as burglars, assassins, cutpurses, and con artists. Often, these scoundrels are organized into thieves’ guilds or crime families. Plenty of rogues operate independently, but even they sometimes recruit apprentices to help them in their scams and heists. A few rogues make an honest living as locksmiths, investigators, or exterminators, which can be a dangerous job in a world where dire rats—and wererats—haunt the sewers.
As adventurers, rogues fall on both sides of the law. Some are hardened criminals who decide to seek their fortune in treasure hoards, while others take up a life of adventure to escape from the law. Some have learned and perfected their skills with the explicit purpose of infiltrating ancient ruins and hidden crypts in search of treasure.
Mechanically, rogues in this edition have the following traits and abilities:
Other Editions of D&D
The rogue was originally introduced to the game in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons as the thief class. Thieves gained new levels the swiftest of the core classes in that game, and they had access to skills such as Open Locks and Move Silently, which would become staples for the class. These skills started with a low chance of success that was rolled as a flat percentage (with no skill modifiers or bonuses), and took several levels to increase the odds of success to a more practical chance. The thief also had the abilities to hear noises, hide in the shadows, and climb walls. The thief had access to the Thieves' Cant language. They also got an early form of sneak attack, then called backstab, which dealt double damage but required the target be attacked from behind and that they be unaware of the attack.
While they were not a part of the original Basic Dungeons & Dragons set in 1974, the thief was later added to the basic set as well. The thief in this version gained new abilities at higher levels, such as the ability to read any language and the ability to cast spells from magic scrolls.
AD&D introduced the assassin sub-class to the thief. While the thief focused more on a variety of skills relevant to a dungeon-delving adventurer, the assassin focused largely on combat effectiveness. The assassin gained a "death strike" which instantly killed an unaware target on a successful hit. They also gained the ability to use poisons, and could learn certain arcane spells such as disguise self and true strike.
In 2nd edition, the thief was added to a category of classes known as the Rogues group, which also included the bard class. The rogue classes were described as those "living by their wits day to day-often at the expense of others". The assassin was removed from the game at this point, on the belief that a thief could be built with the skills necessary to imitate the assassin class. 2nd edition thieves could specialize in some skills, allowing them to master those skills quickly compared to other classes. They were given strengths in stealth, disarming traps, and "acquiring goods" in various ways.
At 3rd edition, the class officially became the rogue instead of the thief. The class retained its aptitude for skills, its ability to notice traps, and the sneak attack ability. Rogues gained the most skill points per level of any class in the edition, which was balanced somewhat by the use of the Intelligence skill to determine the number of skill points: rogues got the most as a base number, but a particularly intelligent character of any class could get close to that number. Rogues did retain a broad range of skills that they could spend their points into, and the flat percentage rates of the older editions were done away with in favor of using skill ranks and bonuses for any skill check. Sneak attacks now were dealt to any target who did not use their dexterity bonus to their AC during the attack (which could be cause by the enemy being prone, blinded, flanked, or flat-footed, and other effects). The rules also defined that the target creature had to be able to take critical hits in in order to deal sneak attack damage (meaning that certain monsters, such as golems, were immune to the ability).
Rogues in Historical Context
The rogue is going to be a bit of a doozy when we talk about historical context, because the class appears to be a catch-all term for a variety of criminals, specialists, and anybody who lives by their wits or by approaching problems in a less-than-straightforward manner. A rogue could be a thief, picking pockets or otherwise stealing property from others. They could be a burglar, breaking into people's homes to steal from them. They could be a highwayman, ambushing people on roadways to rob them. They might be a charlatan or a huckster, committing fraud to convince people to give them their money. They might be a smuggler, transporting goods and people through areas where such goods, or such transport, is illegal.
Another profession that is covered by the rogue class is the assassin. While "contract killing" may be included in this crime, assassination specifically is defined as targeting prominent figures of a society, such as a government or political official, or a popular public figure. While assassinations have happened throughout history, one of the more significant figures in this definition would be the Persian Order of Assassins, or Hashashins, who operated in the Middle East in the years 1090 to 1275, and for whom the term is named. The order's name is believed to have come from a drug of choice which their members indulged in: hashish, made from the resin or oil of the cannabis plant. The order was known for a strict code to which they conducted their business: they forbade the killing of innocents in the process of fulfilling a contract, and they killed their targets in a very public manner, to demonstrate the power of the order. They were known for their skill at reaching people under high security by carefully learning the culture of the target and their community, and slowly entering that community in disguise. The order's methods and details were highly secret, with most of our historical knowledge of the group coming from second-hand sources and rumors. Much of the order's history has been used in modern times as inspiration for the first Assassin's Creed title of video games.
Piracy, as well as privateering, is an act of robbery carried out by the crew of a ship. It can include attacking other ships on the water, or a coastal raid in which the crew attacks a land-based settlement on the coast. While pirates have existed as far back as the 14th century BCE, pirates are most well known for the pirates of the Caribbean Sea, who operates during the 17th and early 18th centuries. This group of criminals largely started as privateers, professional pirates who were hired by heads of state to raid the ships of rival nations. Because North and South America had been discovered by Europe the century prior, and because the Spanish empire had demonstrated the large amounts of wealth which could be acquired in those continents, much of the activity of these privateers was directed at trade ships bringing goods to and from the Americas. After the wars under which the privateers were hired had ended, many found that their license to commit piracy had been revoked. Nonetheless, these men chose to continue their trade as proper pirates, raiding the same channels with less concern who whom they attacked.
There are also options for the rogue who are not centered on law-breaking. A rogue could be a spy, who acquires secret and hidden information and brings it to their employer for coin or out of national duty. They can be a detective, using their skills with people, stealth, and perception to solve mysteries professionally. They might be a treasure-hunter, using their knowledge of traps and their quick wits to plunder ancient ruins for gold and historical artifacts.
An Aside about Locks and Thieve's Tools
Rogues are generally expected to carry a set of thieve's tools with them for opening locks, disabling traps, and other purposes related to entering areas what someone wanted them not to. To understand what these kinds of tool sets would contain, we need to talk a bit about how locks work throughout history.
For most of human history, locks were actually not very common. Locks are a fairly complex mechanism to produce, and for a number of reasons they were either too expensive or too easy to bypass for people to trust them. As a result, the most common security measure was a simple barricade, a plank of wood across the door or some other obstruction. While this was a simple way to prevent someone from opening the door, any tool that could manipulate the board could bypass the obstruction.
Ward locks are one of the oldest lock designs, going back to ancient China and Rome. Because they were fairly simple to construct, they were the more popular lock used during the Dark and Middle Ages. The core of the lock is often a bolt, which would slide between the door and its frame, or in a padlock a piece of material would prevent the bolt of the lock from releasing. A set of obstructions are constructed in the inner workings of the lock, which would prevent a tool from simply turning the mechanism that moves the bolt. A specific key would be made, with a set of grooves meant to allow it to bypass the obstructions, so that it could turn in the lock and open it.
A common tool used by thieves to bypass these locks is the skeleton key. These keys have been filed down, so that they have enough of a protrusion to manipulate the lock mechanism, but the protrusions are small enough that they weren't stopped by the obstructions inside the lock. A thief may have several of these skeleton keys, meant for different locks.
Pin locks are an advancement on lock design. While they are still use din the modern age, and while the technology is fairly advanced compared to a ward lock, evidence has been found that pin locks have existed as far back as ancient Egypt and Iraq, made of wood at the time. The basic design is that the lock's mechanism is obstructed by a series of small pins, which each hang inside of a tube inside the lock. Normally, gravity pulled the pins down in between the bolt and the door frame, holding the two together. Similar to the ward lock, a key to this kind of lock has a series of elevated grooves etched into them. When the key is inserted, the grooves press the pins upward at varied levels, enough that all of the pins are cleared and the mechanism can move freely. This mechanism was uncommon in history largely because of the limits of metalworking: the moving parts in the lock are small, and needed to be able to move freely. And metalworking techniques from the ancient era were imprecise enough that most metal parts would have some kind o defect that could prevent the lock from working properly.
Lock picks usually were used with two separate tools in tandem. First, the actual pick is designed to fit into the groove of the lock, where the key would go. The thin end of the pick is used to individually press the pins up into their housing, and away from the lock mechanism. Second, a sturdy flat tool called a torsion wrench is used to hold the mechanism in place, preventing the pins from falling back into their grooves once the pick is pulled away. A thief would be skilled at manipulating these pins quickly, so that they can bypass a lock within minutes and avoid being caught at the door.
Because ward locks were easier to make, and because ward locks were still easy to bypass, many locksmiths built the locks in places which were concealed. For example, a lockbox may have a false lock on the front of the container, which was connected to nothing. At the bottom of the box, hidden under a false foot of the box or behind a sliding panel, the actual lock would be out of sight so that only the owner of the box would know how to open it.
Traps, on the other hand, are designed to capture, maim, or kill intruders. Early traps were used in the neolithic era by hunters to catch animals. Traps were rarely used with the intention of capturing other humans, and these traps were often larger versions of animal traps. Simple traps were often held in place by a length of cord or wire, so that when an unsuspecting target walked into the wire they would release the trap. Pressure plates were another common triggering mechanism. When the trap is released, it may release a weapon such as a crossbow, or it may release a larger structure such as a net or cage, or a deadfall such as a falling tree trunk or boulder.
A thief would carry a set of tools for bypassing many security measures. Often in a tool roll made of cloth of leather, the tool set would have a variety of lockpicks for pin locks, as well as several skeleton keys to bypass ward locks. The tool set may also contain a small mallet, to tap against the structure for hollow chambers containing a hidden lock. For bypassing traps, the kit may contain a set of tools to cut and obstruct a tripwire without releasing the trap, and to remove and disable a pressure plate. In a fantasy setting, we may also include tools designed to bypass magical traps, such as a chisel to obscure magical spellwork etched into a wall.
Thieves' Cant
The language known as the "thieves' cant" was developed as a way for thieves to communicate with one another in public, without alerting others to the fact that they were discussing crime. The language largely worked by simple substitution: certain words are replaced with other words which the speakers understand to have a new meaning. For example, "night" might be replaced by "darkmans", and "church" may be replaced with "autem". Using a string of these substitutions, a thief may explain a plan to enter a certain building at a certain time, without others aware unless they themselves had learned the substitutions. While all participants were still speaking a more common language, technically, the use of words would seem foreign to non-users, like a strange dialect.
The thieves' cant would also contain a list of symbols, which were left in public areas by other thieves to mark a significant feature, such as an entryway into a building, a fence for stolen goods, a safe place to hide from police, or a location commonly patrolled by authorities.
Many figures in history have published books that they professed contained a secret thieves' cant in their area, which buyers would purchase so that they could learn if a thief were discussing their plans around them. It is uncertain if these works were ever based in fact, as is whether the words listed were actual substitutions used by real thieves.
References for Rogues
Because rogues cover a wide range of professions, it can be difficult to narrow it down to a list of characters to reference for this particular class. However, we know that we're looking at characters who can be charismatic and witty, who can use tools to overcome situations, and who have a tendency towards illegal behaviors.
For a real-world personality that's a classic rogue, take a look at Frank Abagnale, whose story was played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the film Catch Me If You Can. Running away from home at a young age, Abagnale survived mainly through a series of acts of fraud and forgery. He assumed the identities of a Pan American airline pilot, a teaching assistant at Brigham Young University, the chief resident assistant at a hospital in Georgia, and a Louisiana attorney. In the meantime, he supported himself financially by developing a number of methods of theft and bank fraud. After six years, Abagnale was caught in Montpelier, France. After eventually returning to America and serving a part of his sentence in prison, he was eventually released him conditionally to serve as a consultant with federal authorities, as an expert on con artists and fraud.
For a reference that's a bit direct, you can take a look at the Thief series of video games, particularly Thief 3: Deadly Shadows and the later remake, Thief. The protagonist, Garrett, is an expert thief who uses many classic techniques to enter homes, open locks, and steal valuables by the cover of night.
I recommend a look at the John Wick movies for a view of the assassin sub-class. In particular, the movies display a rich criminal underworld society, filled with secret locations, communications, and traditions that other assassins know and use to communicate with one another. For GMs with a rogue character, you may use these films as inspiration to build a thieves' guild in your setting, or to establish NPCs related to the rogue's backstory.
As mentioned in the historical context section, you can also look to the Assassin's Creed video games to learn more about assassins. Particularly, the first game, as well as the Ezio trilogy, are highly-rated games that explore the techniques of stealth, infiltration, and discreet killing that an assassin would need to know. The sixth title in the series, Black Flag, also sheds some light on the life of a pirate in the Caribbean Sea.
You can look at the story of Aladdin as an example of a rogue's backstory. The title character does not have much of a backstory, except that he is a street urchin who grew up homeless and without a family. We see him stealing to survive for much of the beginning of the story. As the story progresses, we see the character using his wits and charm to rise in influence and eventually marry the princess of the sultanate that he lives in.
Loki, from the Marvel superhero movies, is an excellent example of a rogue. He has some access to illusion magic, but much of his abilities come from his natural charisma and wily intellect. Loki understands how to manipulate people, how to blend in when he needs to, and how to hit his opponents where they are weakest.
A more classic example of the rogue is The Scarlet Pimpernel. This play, written in the 1900s, follows the story of the title character, an infamous scoundrel who rescues aristocrats sentenced to the guillotine during the French Revolution. The Pimpernel is an expert at infiltration, disguise, escape, and swordsmanship.
To lend some credence to the idea of a non-criminal rogue, lets also mention Indiana Jones. The famous treasure hunter has many skills in the rogue’s playbook: a knowledge of traps and ways around them, creative use of tools such as sandbags and his bull whip to overcome obstacles, a tendency to wear disguises to avoid enemies, and a winning personality that people find charming. But Indy is explicitly against raiding historical sites for wealth: he collects treasures for their historical value, and gives them to the scientific community for study (albeit with a finder’s fee).
Questions for a Rogue Character
If you are building a rogue character, or if you're a GM with a player rolling a rogue, you may want to consider these questions:
EDIT: Based on comments from several redditors, I tried to cut away some of the excessive rambling in the Historical Context section of this article, and I tried to re-contextualize the rogue to shine more light on the non-criminal possibilities this class can provide.

2020.08.19 13:19 finnagains Hollywood's Apocalypse NOW: Rich and famous are fleeing in droves as liberal politics and coronavirus turn City of Dreams into cesspit plagued by junkies and violent criminals - By Caroline Graham (Daily Mail) 15 Aug 2020

Gold's Gym has become synonymous with the Hollywood Dream.
Set just a few hundred yards from the ocean in sun-kissed Venice Beach, Los Angeles, Gold's was the backdrop for Pumping Iron, the 1977 documentary which followed a young, unknown Austrian bodybuilder called Arnold Schwarzenegger as he prepared for the Mr Universe contest.
The film turned him into an overnight sensation. He would go on to become a global superstar, marry a member of the Kennedy clan, and become Governor of California.
Yet today Gold's sits amid post-apocalyptic scenes which have consumed much of LA, turning the City of Dreams into an urban nightmare from which people are fleeing in droves.
A makeshift tent city made up of flapping tarpaulins and cardboard boxes surrounds the gym on all sides.
Junkies and the homeless, many of whom are clearly mentally ill, walk the palm-lined streets like zombies – all just three blocks from multi-million-dollar homes overlooking the Pacific.
Stolen bicycles are piled high on pavements littered with broken syringes.
TV bulletins are filled with horror stories from across the city; of women being attacked during their morning jog or residents returning home to find strangers defecating in their front gardens.
Today, Los Angeles is a city on the brink. 'For Sale' signs are seemingly dotted on every suburban street as the middle classes, particularly those with families, flee for the safer suburbs, with many choosing to leave LA altogether.
British-born Danny O'Brien runs Watford Moving & Storage. 'There is a mass exodus from Hollywood,' he says.
'And a lot of it is to do with politics.' His business is booming. 'August has already set records and we are only halfway through the month,' he tells me.
'People are getting out in droves. Last week I moved a prominent person in the music industry from a $6.5 million [£5 million] mansion above Sunset Boulevard to Nashville.'
O'Brien, 58, who moved to LA from London 34 years ago, is also planning to move to Tennessee.
'Liberal politics has destroyed this city,' he says. 'The homeless encampments are legal and there's nothing the police can do. White, affluent middle-class folk are getting out. People don't feel safe any more.'
With movie studios still shuttered because of the coronavirus pandemic and businesses only just starting to remove the wooden boards put up after city-wide rioting following the death of George Floyd while being arrested by three white officers in Minneapolis, LA is now in the grip of white flight.
Lou Ferrigno became friends with Schwarzenegger when both worked out at Gold's. While he might not be quite a household name like Arnie, Ferrigno starred in the TV series The Incredible Hulk and became one of the wealthiest bodybuilders in the world, with a fortune of $12 million.
President Donald Trump appointed him to his council on fitness, sports and nutrition in 2018.
But Ferrigno, for all his impeccable connections, has become fed up with what he describes as the 'dramatic decline' in LA. He and wife Carla recently sold their £3 million home in Santa Monica and moved into a 7,146 sq ft mansion two hours north of LA.
Carla says: 'One morning around 7am I opened the curtains in our beautiful Santa Monica home and looking up at me from our driveway were three gang members with tattoos on their faces sitting on our retaining wall. They were cat-calling me and being vulgar. I motioned I was going to call the police and they just laughed, flicking their tongues at me and showing me their guns.'
Her husband added: 'We put the house up for sale after 40 wonderful years and moved north. We feel lucky to have made it out. Now we are in a wonderful place and very happy.'
Renee Taylor, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter and actress who appeared in the hit TV sitcom The Nanny, recently sold her Beverly Hills home after half a century and moved to the East Coast.
'I feel so sad for my friends left in Beverly Hills who had to suffer through looting and rioting,' she says. 'I got out just in time.'
The virus only made matters worse. There are homeless encampments in some of the most instantly recognisable tourist traps.
Stretches of Hollywood Boulevard – embedded with glittering stars representing those who achieved their dream of fame and fortune – resemble a Third World shanty town rather than the heart of America's second-largest city.
Outside the Chinese Theatre where Marilyn Monroe and other screen icons are immortalised by their handprints in concrete, the Michael Jackson and Superman lookalikes who usually pose with tourists have been replaced by vagrants begging for change.
Meanwhile, the visitors snap photos of a large Black Lives Matter logo painted down the middle of the street.
Car parks beside the beach in Santa Monica – a popular tourist destination for Britons – are filled with bashed-up motorhomes, each housing several people.
The authorities have even put portable toilets on the streets to try to stop the homeless relieving themselves on private property.
The Westwood area of LA, home to some of the most upmarket blocks of flats in the city, has been renamed 'West Hood' by locals appalled by rising crime.
Veteran publicist Ed Lozzi says: 'The city was changing before coronavirus brought us to our knees. The homeless problem has been escalating for years, exacerbated by weak politicians making bad decisions.
'Hollywood has always been the wokest of the woke, so politicians have done nothing to stop people sleeping on the streets. It's not illegal and the weather's nice, so they keep coming.
'There is insufficient housing, inadequate mental health care. Add in Covid and it's a perfect storm.
'When I first arrived in LA 40 years ago, the town smelled of orange blossoms. Now the streets stink of urine. There is a beautiful park in Westwood but you can't go there because there are people slumped on the ground and you step on a carpet of needles.
'White flight is real. The elites and middle classes are leaving. People are taking losses on the sales of their homes to get out.'
The divide between rich and poor has never been more glaring. Just yards away from Gold's sits the sprawling LA headquarters of internet giant Google.
The car park is housed in a building designed by architect Frank Gehry to look like a giant pair of binoculars. Private security guards wander round as a handful of employees returning after lockdown drive into the complex in their Teslas, Porsches and Range Rovers.
Charity worker Robert (he declined to give his last name) mans two portable toilets opposite the Google HQ. Recently released from jail, this menial job is the only work he can get. He says two people have overdosed in the toilets in the past two weeks.
'I have a Narcan pen which brings them back to life after they overdose on opioids. I've had to use the pen twice since the beginning of August.
'The situation is terrible. I don't blame those who can afford to get out of the city for doing so.'
Some 66,000 people now sleep rough every night in LA – up 12.5 per cent on last year.
'There's no hope any more,' he continues. 'The rich are getting richer and there's nothing for those on Skid Row. Trump has done nothing to help the poor. All he cares about are his rich friends making more money. If I had money I'd get out too.'
The pandemic has made many in Hollywood realise they don't need to live in LA – or anywhere near it – to keep working.
Talent manager Craig Dorfman has moved to upstate New York. 'A lot of people in the industry are re-evaluating their lives and saying,
'You know, I never really loved LA. Where would I like to live? Because I can do what I want to do from anywhere,' ' says Dorfman.
Fashion stylist Leah Forester and her film producer husband Bill Johnson have rented out their home and moved to the Mexican beach town of Careyes with their two children.
'We wanted to be in the most healthy, supportive and serene environment we could be in so that we could have some sense of control over our immediate surroundings and our destiny,' says Forester.
Comedian Joe Rogan, who makes $30 million a year from his self-titled podcast, has quit LA for Texas and says: 'When you look at the traffic, when you look at the economic despair, when you look at the homelessness problem that's accelerated radically… I think there are too many people here.
'I think it's not tenable. I don't think that it's manageable.'
Ironically, the celebrity enclave of Malibu – home to such leading members of the 'wokerati' as Leonardo DiCaprio – has cracked down hard on the homeless, bringing in local laws to prevent people parking their motorhomes along the beach overnight.
'They've kicked the homeless problem into other areas of the city like Westwood and Venice,' says publicist Ed Lozzi. 'It's a classic case of 'not in my back yard'.'
Meanwhile, some of Tinseltown's biggest stars are developing back-up plans, should the situation worsen. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson recently took Greek citizenship and have told friends they intend to spend more time in Europe.
Producer Dana Brunetti, business partner of disgraced actor Kevin Spacey and producer of the Fifty Shades Of Grey films, has acquired Italian citizenship 'because Italy is part of the EU – it gives me a lot of options if the s*** hits the fan'.
Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban have homes in LA, Nashville and her native Australia.
A source says: 'They have been spending a lot of time in Nashville. There they can give their kids a more normal upbringing. They have been talking about getting rid of the LA place.'
When the news broke last week that Prince Harry and Meghan have chosen to make their home two hours north of LA in the upmarket hamlet of Montecito, the news shocked no one.
One Oscar-nominated writer told me: 'They saw enough of LA those times they left Tyler Perry's house to make them not want to raise Archie in a place like this. LA has always attracted beautiful and talented people from around the world who come here looking for fame or money or both.
'Now the streets look like Haiti after the earthquake. It's dirty, dangerous and work has dried up. Even when studios start to open up, people will choose to work from other places.'
The most recent high-profile name to quit Hollywood is Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, a darling of the showbusiness crowd. Actor Robert Downey Jr has said it was Musk who inspired his portrayal of Tony Stark, the eccentric billionaire inventor in the Iron Man movies.
Musk has recently sold his compound of four homes in Bel Air for a combined total of $62 million (£47 million) and is said to be considering a move to Texas, where he is building Tesla's $1 billion new factory.
'When the real-life Iron Man moves out of Hollywood , you know it's all over,' says a source at one of the major studios.

2020.08.10 13:58 grossmaer36 What Men Secretly Think of Older Women

What Men Secretly Think of Older Women
"In this video, I’m going to reveal exactly what men secretly think about older women. I’ll tell you why some men go for younger women who just graduated high school whereas others don’t mind dating someone their age or older than them. Maybe you’ve seen the buzz recently that Keanu Reeves has a new girlfriend, Alexandra Grant. The media is going crazy for this story for one reason: she’s a woman with gray hair. I’m not kidding. People were shocked to see 46-year-old Alexandra show up with Keanu to an event this month rocking her naturally gray hair -- and praising Keanu for dating a woman his age (even though she’s actually 9 years younger than him). Maybe you’re rolling your eyes at this story - because it IS ridiculous that women in Hollywood get so much media attention for wearing their hair naturally gray as many men do. But the point is - yes, there are good men out there who date someone who is age-appropriate. Why is this important? It’s easy to focus on the fact that men like Leonardo Dicaprio seem to max out on women when they hit age 25. But high-quality men are not focused on counting your grey hairs. They are focused on the positive qualities of dating an older woman. Here’s a few of them... Wisdom Men secretly know that an older woman will understand him better than a younger woman. That’s because an older woman can appreciate him in a way no one else does. Why is that? Older women have simply spent more time on this Earth. They have experienced great hardships and great success. High-quality men understand that dating an older woman means she will know what it is like to suffer, pick herself back up, and start over again. This makes older women wise and mature - which are fantastic qualities to have in a partner. Men want a partnership that can lead them to more happiness and success than they would achieve on their own. Finding a partner that can offer a wise, experienced perspective is invaluable. Independence And as you may have heard me say before, being a strong, independent woman is the ultimate turn on for a man. If you’re older and haven’t been with a man for a while, odds are you know exactly how to make yourself happy and be perfectly fine without one. Do you know what this signifies to men? That you won’t be needy. A man’s worst nightmare is a woman who says, “I need you to be happy. I need you to fulfill me. I need you to feel good about myself.” And unfortunately, a lot of younger women act this way. That’s why when you meet a man and you’re happy with your life and independent - he will think, “Wow, what a strong woman. This is the kind of woman who will be an equal partner with me.” You see, men secretly love older women because they are looking for someone who is on their level. That’s why it’s no surprise why a high-quality, powerful man like Barack Obama chose to marry an equally strong woman like Michelle. Listen, some men do go for young, attractive women instead of seeking a partner that matches their values, intellect and lifestyle. But you must understand this kind of man is not someone you want to date. Real high-quality men have no problem dating women who are older or around their age. For them, it’s not about how old someone is - it’s about finding someone who can be an equal partner to them. In addition, men do find older women attractive because they are independent, mature, powerful, and experienced. Now, I’m going to conclude by giving you the #1 way you can easily attract a guy who shares the same values as you and appreciates you for who you are. This trick is great because it also turns away the wrong kind of guy right away. It’s called the power of polarity. It involves showing a man the most polarizing things about you right away. It could be that you have five kids and 10 grandkids who you love spending time with. It could be that despite your age you love traveling and having adventures around the world. Some men won’t be able to handle this. But the right one will appreciate your honesty and see these polarizing things as parts of you that are unique and special. Remember, no matter how old you are, as long are you’re young at heart - you will still be able to captivate the right man and win his heart by being yourself."

2020.07.15 18:02 LearningIsListening A not-so-brief rundown of letters J-L of Jeffrey Epstein's 'Little Black Book'

Below is a rundown of letters J-L of Epstein's contacts. Last year, I wrote about letters A-C. You can check that out here (https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/cpis3n/a_brief_rundown_of_the_first_ten_pages_of_jeffrey/).
I also wrote about letters D-F on July 5, 2020. You can check that out here (https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/hlrba8/a_notsobrief_rundown_of_letters_df_in_jeffrey/).
I posted letters G-I on July 13, 2020. You can check that out here (https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/hqko0y/a_notsobrief_rundown_of_letters_gi_in_jeffrey/). There are some misspelled names. Epstein entered their names like this.
I have bolded some of the more interesting connections and information, but there could be much more that I overlooked. I hope something here strikes an interest in someone and maybe we can get more investigations out of this. Please, if you know anything more about any of these people than what is presented here, post below. I am working off of the unredacted black book found here: https://www.coreysdigs.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Jeffrey-Epsteins-Little-Black-Book-unredacted.pdf
Jackson, Michael (Samuel Gen): Yes, this is a reference to MJ the singer. However, the numbers listed are not MJ’s. They belong to Samuel Gen, a lawyer for a financial advisor (Jerry Seinfeld’s brother-in-law) who worked for MJ for a while. This one was a reach for Epstein.
Jacobson, Julian: Likely a reference to a Managing Director at several London-based investment firms.
Jagger, Mick: World-famous lead singer of the Rolling Stones. Has been seen in photographs with Ghislaine Maxwell. Actress Rae Dawn Chong claims she slept with Jagger when she was 15 years old.
Jagger, Hatti: Former fashion director for Vogue, Harper’s, and Tatler. Also works as a celebrity stylist and at fashion shows.
jake: Not enough info.
Jameel, Mohammed: Saudi Arabian businessman. CEO of Abdul Latif Jameel, a collective of family-owned businesses that specialize in transportation, investing, and real estate. Royal pervert Prince Andrew infamously partied on Jameel’s yacht during the 2011 London riots (source: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/prince-andrew-frolicks-on-yacht-with-mystery-147496).
James, Susie: Founder and owner of 123 Send Ltd, a company that provides payment terminals.
Janklow, Linda: Literary agent and wife of Mort Janklow, the primary owner of Janklow & Nesbit Associates, the largest literary agency in the world. Attended a party hosted by Sony Pictures with Epstein, although they are not pictured together (source: https://www.patrickmcmullan.com/search/?event=5b3ef4fb9f92906676446c21). In 2007, Ghislaine Maxwell threw an exclusive party (80 carefully selected guests) at her NYC townhouse to celebrate the opening of a new shop by designer Allegra Hicks (granddaughter-in-law of Earl Mountbatten, who you can read more about in my G-I Epstein thread under India Hicks’s name). One of the eighty guests was Julie Landlow, daughter of Linda and Mort.
Jarecki, Nancy & Andrew: Andrew is a filmmaker, co-founder of Moviefone, and was a producer on Catfish, the documentary that launched the popular MTV show. Andrew’s family was reportedly friends with Jeffrey Epstein. There is an EXCELLENT thread on the connections between the Jarecki family (especially Andrew and Nick’s father, Henry) and Epstein here (source: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1200044576947556352.html). Quick summary: Henry was born in Nazi Germany; flew on the Lolita Express; is an expert in psychotropic drugs; owns two islands in the British Virgin Islands; founded the first youth center in the British Virgin Islands; lived 2 miles from Epstein in NYC; owns and donates to many sketchy foundations, schools, and organizations; has donated at least $1 million to leftist organizations). Andrew’s wife Nancy created bettybeauty, a company that specializes in hair dye for your nether regions (not kidding).
Jarecki, Nick: The movie director brother of Andrew and son of Henry Jarecki (see link under Andrew & Nancy Jarecki for more info). Reportedly dated Courtney Love (also in Epstein’s ‘Black Book’) in 2015. Photographed with Ghislaine Maxwell at a Gucci party (source: https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/ghislaine-maxwell-and-nick-jarecki-attend-gucci-hosts-a-news-photo/591605562).
Jason (canada): Not enough info. Could be artist Jason Wasserman based out of Canada. The second number listed traces back to Station 16 Gallery in Montreal.
Javier: Javier Banon is former Co-head of Merchant Banking at Lehman Brothers and current Founding Partner of Trilantic Europe.
Jeffries, Tim: Ownedirector of Hamiltons Gallery in London. Best known for dating models Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer, Kylie Minogue and Sophie Dahl (also in Epstein’s ‘Black Book’). Jefferies has attended fundraisers for ARK Academy and the NSPCC. He truly cares about children.
Johnson, Richard & Nadine: Nadine is a millionaire public relations guru. Nadine is a good friend of Ghislaine Maxwell’s. Some clients of Nadine Johnson include spirit cooking extraordinaire Marina Abramovic and hotelier Andre Balazs, good friend of Ghislaine. Richard is one of the most well-known gossip columnists and was the editor of Page Six for twenty-five years. There is a great thread detailing the Johnsons’ ties to the Clintons, Balazs, and others here (source: https://threader.app/thread/1162148078981394432). Basically, Richard Johnson is friendly with the Clintons and, as Page Six Editor, purposely did not report or downplayed stories on the Clintons and Nadine’s clients. He also took bribes. Considering Nadine is a good friend of Ghislaine, it would not be a stretch to assume that Richard could have buried stories on Maxwell and Epstein. I could spend 10 pages on the shady connections these two have.
Johnson, Lucy: Not enough info.
Jones, Ann & Mick: Mick is the guitarist of Foreigner, an immensely popular rock band in the ‘70s and ‘80s. His wife, Ann, is a jewelry designer, and friend of Ghislaine. Ann Jones was photographed at a party with Ghislaine and Donald Trump in 1997 (source: https://www.the-sun.com/news/85818/epstein-madam-ghislaine-maxwell-milked-billionaire-dad-and-threw-lavish-parties-with-beautiful-women/)
Josephson, Barry & Jackie: Barry is a producer and the former President of Production for Columbia Pictures. Jackie is his ex-wife and also a producer.
Karella, Kalliope: Wife of Prince Pierre d’Arenberg. Kalliope is a good friend of Ghislaine Maxwell.
Kastner, Ron: No info found.
Katz, Anton & Robin Plant: Anton is CEO and co-founder of Talos Trading, which specializes in cryptocurrency. Anton and Robin are friends of and have been photographed with Ghislaine (source: https://www.patrickmcmullan.com/search/?person=5b3ef50c9f929066764df255).
Katzeneilenbogen, Mark: Long-time investment banker who used to be based out of South Africa.
Keeling, Sarah: There is a Sarah Keeling in London who is a former British government official with 20 years of experience in national security and intelligence experience, however, the phone number listed has a 410 area code, which leads back to eastern Maryland. Inconclusive.
Kegan, Rory: A nightclub designer and creator. Co-founder of the exclusive, celebrity-filled London nightclub, Chinawhite. Prince Andrew (source: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9818190/prince-andrew-pictures-cast-doubt-epstein-sex-slave/) and Prince Albert of Monaco are regulars. Chelsea Clinton has been there, as well (source: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/bright-night-for-china-white-6299739.html). Other patrons include: Prince Andrew, Kate Middleton, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, and more.
Keidan, Amanda: Owner of Keidan Jewelry.
Keidan, Jon: An entertainment executive-turned-venture capitalist. As an entertainment exec, Keidan worked with John Legend, Dave Matthews Band, and Nappy Roots. Keidan serves on the Council of Foreign Relations, a powerful group that some believe determines foreign policy. Former and current members include former presidents, current and former politicians, business magnates, and celebrities (https://www.cfr.org/membership/roster).
Keller, Georgie: Interior designer.
Kellette Frayse, Caroline: Fashion editor at Vogue and Tatler (both magazines constantly come up in Epstein’s contacts). Former girlfriend of Imran Khan, whose name has come up frequently. Passed away in 2014. Her husband, Jean-Marc Fraysse, is a French investment banker.
Kelmenson, Leo-Arthur & Gayl: Leo was an advertising and marketing guru who has been credited with saving Chrysler. Friend and advisor to Lee Iacocca, former President of Chrysler. He worked as Special Project Officer for the U.S. Department of State under President John F. Kennedy and AG Robert F. Kennedy. He had tons of connections. His former maid accused him of sexual harassment in 2010 (source: https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/maid-harassment-suit-claims-ad-exec-leo-arthur-kelmenson-madman-pervy-mad-men-wannabe-article-1.156915). Kelmenson died less than two months after the story came out.
Kennedy Cuomo, Andrew & Kerry: Andrew is the current governor of New York. It’s no secret that Cuomo is willing to look the other way on sexual deviancy as long as he receives a payoff. Cuomo halted a probe into the handling of Harvey Weinstein’s case in New York after receiving $25,000 from Weinstein’s law firm (source: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/bjbqg4/andrew-cuomo-received-dollar25000-donation-from-harvey-weinsteins-law-firm). Andrew’s brother, CNN Host Chris Cuomo famously told viewers “not to get caught up in the intrigue of who Epstein’s friends are” (source: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/07/11/cnn_cuomo_lets_not_get_caught_up_in_the_intrigue_of_who_was_friends_with_jeffrey_epstein.html). Perhaps, he was covering for his brother. Kerry Kennedy is Cuomo’s ex-wife of fifteen years, the daughter of RFK, and a close friend of Ghislaine Maxwell. Supposedly, Kennedy provided Ghislaine with informal illegal advice (source: https://www.splicetoday.com/politics-and-media/the-nth-word-and-m-theory).
Kennedy Jr. Ted: Son of Ted Kennedy and nephew of JFK and RFK. Ted Jr. dabbled in politics and currently works as a lawyer. His father, Ted, was a notorious sexual abuser (allegedly).
Kennedy, Bobby & Mary: Bobby is the son of RFK and nephew of JFK. Bobby is a known drug abuser and philanderer. Bobby kept a sex journal detailing his conquests while he was married (source: https://nypost.com/2013/09/08/rfk-jr-s-sex-diary-of-adultery/). His ex-wife, Mary, committed “suicide” two years after their divorce. Before committing suicide, Mary told a friend that she “feared for her life” and Bobby told her that she “would be better off dead” (source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3231043/How-serial-cheater-Bobby-Kennedy-Jr-strutted-family-home-exposing-private-parts-demanded-m-nage-trois-wife-Mary-went-public-Cheryl-Hines-telling-Mary-things-easier-killed-herself.html).
Kennedy, Ethel: Widow of RFK Sr. and mother of eleven, including Bobby Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, and Joseph Kennedy II.
Kennedy, Jo: Joseph Kennedy II is the son of RFK Sr. and Ethel. Served in the House of Representatives from 1987-1999. In 1973, Joseph was convicted of negligent driving after paralyzing a young woman. He was fined $100.
Kennedy, Senator Edward: Brother of JFK and RFK, Ted Kennedy served as U.S. Senator of Massachusetts for 47 years. Besides politics, Ted is best known for the Chappaquiddick incident in which a young female speechwriter for RFK drowned to death when he lost control of his vehicle while driving across a bridge. He was charged with leaving the scene of an incident and given a two month suspended sentence. Ted was also notorious for his extramarital affairs. Senator Kennedy once hosted a party at his house attended by Bill Clinton and Lynn Forester de Rothschild. Rothschild wrote a letter to Clinton afterwards in which she mentions that they spoke about Epstein (source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7283825/Jeffrey-Epstein-injured-jail-cell-following-possible-suicide-assault.html). It is unclear what was said or what Rothschild’s connection could possibly be.
Kersner, Sol: South African accountant and hotel and casino magnate who died of cancer in 2020. Kerzner was a close friend of Donald Trump. They even worked together to create The Palm, a man-made island off the coast of Dubai (source: https://www.ft.com/content/46393280-d9f9-11da-b7de-0000779e2340). Kerzner was also close friends with Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York (https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/sarah-ferguson-the-duchess-of-york-sol-kerzner-chairman-and-news-photo/83768272), Naomi Campbell (https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/naomi-campbell-and-sol-kerzner-pose-backstage-during-the-news-photo/82869744), and Bill Clinton (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8144647/As-Sol-Kerzner-dies-aged-84-RICHARD-KAY-looks-riotously-louche-life.html). Kerzner was very good friends with Nelson Mandela and built his casino resorts with Gerard Inzerillo, who you can read about in my G-I ‘Black Book’ thread.
Khayat, Antoine, Jana, & George: Jana is an heiress and businesswoman. Jana is the niece of Galen Weston, a close friend of Prince Charles. George is her brother and CEO of Associated British Foods. Jana’s husband, Antoine, is a former banker and currently runs their vineyard.
Kidd, Jemma: Kidd is a British makeup artist, fashion model, and aristocrat. Married to Arthur Wellesley, Earl of Mornington, the son of the Duke and Duchess of Wellington, making her a Countess. Kidd is an interesting figure with elite connections. From 2005-2012, Ghislaine Maxwell served as Director of Jemma Kidd Make-Up Limited, a U.K. makeup company, which was founded by Kidd. Not only did Ghislaine serve as Director, but she was also a shareholder, along with the Rothschild family (source: https://nationalpost.com/news/world/in-hiding-for-years-epstein-accomplice-ghislaine-maxwell-spotted-in-l-a-burger-shop). If you click around the PDFs on this website (https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05340072/filing-history), you can see everything. The 16 JUN 2006 PDF on page 3 shows you a list of Officers and shareholders of the company. Jemma Kidd has also attended charity events for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) (https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-beckham-nspcc-party-jemma-kidd-106882170.html). Her sister, Jodie, is also a huge supportefundraiser of the NSPCC, as well as the Help a London Child and Monsoon Accessorize Trust charities, both of which help out disadvantaged children (source: https://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/jodie-kidd).
King, Abby: No info found.
Kirwin Taylor, Charlie & Helen: Charles is an investment banker. He was former CEO of Credit Suisse in Switzerland, an investment firm which shows up a few times through Epstein’s contacts. His wife, Helen, is a journalist.
Kirwin Taylor, Peter: British financier. Was a member of the Pilgrims Society (https://isgp-studies.com/pilgrims-society-membership-list), a group that has included the Rothschilds, Rockefellers, and other elites amongst its ranks.
Kissinger, Dr. Henry A: Former U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor under Nixon. Kissinger once said, “Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy.” Kissinger served with Epstein on the Trilateral Commission. Kissinger has also been a member of the Bilderberg Group, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Aspen Institute, and Bohemian Grove. Long thought to be an advocate for a globalist New World Order, Kissinger is a scumbag of the highest order. His connections with Gates, the Clintons, Bush Sr. and Jr., the Rockefellers, and the Rothschilds are well-documented. If anyone here has ever done any research regarding the NWO, you have undoubtedly seen Kissinger’s name several times.

Le Fur, Jean-Yves: French businessman and magazine creator. He was once Princess Stephanie of Monaco’s ex-fiance. More notably, Le Fur was the one who discovered supermodel Karen Mulder (his girlfriend at the time) on the floor after she attempted suciide. She was even the protege of Epstein collaborator (allegedly), Jean Luc Brunel (https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/article238351108.html).

(https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/07/12/teachers-named-in-presentation-high-sex-investigation-kept-working-as-bay-area-educators-for-years/). This story was just published on July 12, 2020. Hypothetically, if one wanted to procure underage children, it would certainly help if the head of the school was on board and possibly a pedophile himself. According to this former teacher at Fusion Academy, “many students struggle with learning differences, behavioral issues, and/or addictions” (https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-Fusion-Academy-RVW21260629.htm). In other words, the downtrodden and vulnerable. Fusion Academy refers to itself as a non-traditional school that focuses on individual students. Seems like a great opportunity. Leeds was also good friends with Epstein (https://nymag.com/nymetro/news/people/n_7912/) and has close ties to Colin Powell and Rudy Giuliani (https://nypost.com/2016/09/14/colin-powell-wont-vote-for-her-because-of-bill-clinton/).

Liogos, Babis: No info found, but one of the numbers traces back to Thylan Associates, a real estate and investment firm.
Lister, Paul: Likely the director of legal services and company secretary for Associated British Foods, or it could be a conservationist. Not sure which.

Maxwell and a couple of Rockefellers were guests at her house for a dinner party in 2010 (https://hauteliving.com/2010/11/doris-world-eva-lorenzottis-dinner-party/105102/).
Lorimer, John & Lottie: John works as a private investor and as a realtor. His wife, Lottie, is an interior designer.
Louthan Guy J: Prolific British film producer and former boyfriend of actress Liz Hurley (also in Epstein’s book).
Love, Courtney: Famous drug addict, musician, and actress who likely killed her husband, Kurt Cobain. Courtney famously claimed that Prince Andrew showed up to her house late one night in 2000 looking for sex. She has since retracted this claim. The entries under Love’s name all say ‘Dana’ next to them. This is Courtney’s ex-boyfriend, Dana Giacchetto. Giacchetto was considered to be the “stockbroker to the stars” and was friends with JFK Jr, Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, and many others. He ripped his clients off of millions. Even more telling, Giacchetto was involved in a sex abuse case against X-Men director Bryan Singer (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/news/leonardo-dicaprios-convicted-ex-money-manager-denies-bryan-050000120.html). 2020.06.22 19:17 ThrowRA_9794 My relationship makes me feel like I'm having sex with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Title explanation down below:
I'm having doubts about my relationship. Why? Because I believe that I am more emotionally invested and willing to put more effort into making the relationship a happy more than my partner does. I go out of my way to make sure that our day to day is well catered for and going well and yet that goes unacknowledged. I'm very expressive in my love for him, not just verbally but also in other small acts of kindness. His happiness and comfort is a priority to me and I don't feel like that is being reciprocated. It's as if I am in this relationship by myself and he just exists as a background, enjoying all the benefits without having to do any work. But the thing that makes it worse is that he will gladly point out things I do wrong or express negative emotion on the rare time I fuck up. One time he accused me of not being reliable and keeping my promises. He also accused me of not investing as much money into the relationship like he has. When I corrected this and started investing more, suddenly there was another complaint. He claimed I wasn't giving him space. I gave him space and suddenly I wasn't giving him enough attention. To top it off, everything he gets angry with me for, he has no problem doing himself. He hates sharing with me (or anyone for that matter) but will get annoyed with me for not giving in to him. I could give more examples but I think you get the message. I am in a one sided relationship. And for those who are going to ask me if I've spoken to him about this before, trust me I have. And he somehow found a way to turn it around on me and make it seem like I was the one who has a problem. I could sit here and name all of his good qualities but that won't matter. Just because he can be good doesn't mean his bad is any better. I know people will tell me to end things. I'm telling myself the same thing. I guess I just have to muster up the courage to finally do it. I just needed a place to vent until I make my final decision. In the meantime, let's cowgirl it up!
Title explanation: A long time ago I heard a rumour that Leonardo DiCaprio is a selfish lover in the bedroom and that he is the type to lie down and make the woman do all the work. Supposedly, he even listens to music on his headphones and vapes while the woman is riding him. And after she is done, she gets no favour returned. I have no idea if this is true or not but I figured it would be the perfect analogy to describe the current state of my relationship.

2020.06.08 10:26 retr0boii Shutter island-A case of denial

I recently watched a movie Shutter Island which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, this is a psychological thriller movie set in the 1950s which deals with a US marshall Edward“Teddy” Daniels and his partner Chuck Aule take a ferry to Shutter Island. To visit the Asheclife hospital which was home to the mentally insane and dangerous criminals who couldn’t be treated in the city.
I want to highlight a characteristic of the role played by Leonardo DiCaprio(Teddy) who towards the later part of the movie starts getting nightmares and starts hallucinating about his dead wife. He believes that she died in a fire at his apartment that was planted a man named Andrew Leaddis.
Teddy was here to find Leaddis, he, however, finds clues about the missing patient Rachel Solando and upon investigating finds out that she doesn’t exist. Almost towards the end, we see him infiltrating the lighthouse where he feels his partner Chuck is held captive for performing a lobotomy.
Upon rushing upstairs he realizes that the head psychiatrist doctor Cawley is waiting there for him And upon asking for Chuck, he meets him only to know that he was his primary therapist doctor Sheehan, who explains it to Teddy that he’s been in denial and is not ready to accept the fact that he killed his wife because she killed his children by drowning them. They further explain that he was the 67th prisoner who in Ward C was the most dangerous patient they had in-house.
I would like to point out that Teddy was in denial of the fact that he killed his wife and had children in the first place. Sometimes denial occurs when an event takes place which is too drastic to recover from. What is interesting is that denials don’t just occur from events of the past but also of those in the future. For example, as an 11th grader, I have a fantasy to play a lot of videogames. I would do so for as long as I could but as a sensible person I know it would have an adverse effect on me since
all I would be doing is playing videogames. Moreover, I wouldn’t indulge in any other activity or Study. This fantasy or thought puts me in denial of knowing that it is bad for me because I would pursue it if I had the chance to.

Script Changes Led Paramount to Bail on Killers of the Flower Moon

Following the recent news that Apple has partnered with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio to finance their upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon adaptation, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that it was script changes that ultimately led Paramount Pictures to pull back their investment in the film.
RELATED: Leonardo DiCaprio Eyeing Possible Role in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up
While Apple covers the large budget, Paramount will still distribute the film in theaters worldwide before the movie lands on Apple TV+. The studio will avoid financial risk but faces “very limited upside.”
Paramount reportedly pulled back their funding for the film when Scorsese and DiCaprio revised the script and altered the star’s role. DiCaprio was originally supposed to be playing the good guy working for the developing FBI, but in the revised version, he would portray Robert De Niro’s nephew, torn between love and evil machinations of his uncle.
The outlet reports that a source shared Paramount felt the changes in the script made the film a “moody and less commercial character study,” calling it a “smaller scale; same budget” project.
Paramount was likely hoping they could convince the director and actor to revert back to their original script when they suggested to DiCaprio’s manager Rick Yorn to shop the project, but not only is Apple now covering the entire budget, they will also be the “creative studio” on the film.
Paramount will apparently pay marketing costs, though Apple will get its money back either from its share of the box office or “by making up any shortfall;” Apple will also cover costs associated with developing the project. In turn, Paramount will receive a distribution fee based on the film’s box office performance.

Killers of the Flower Moon, written by Eric Roth (A Star is Born), is produced by Imperative Entertainment, who acquired the rights for the novel for $5 million, as well as Scorcese, Appian Way Productions and Sikelia Productions. It will be starring Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio with fellow Scorsese alum Robert De Niro.
Killers of the Flower Moon will mark DiCaprio and Scorcese’s seventh collaboration together after working on multiple Oscar-nominated and winning films beginning with 2002’s Gangs of New York followed by 2004’s The Aviator, which was the actor’s first Oscar-nominated performance with the director, 2006’s The Departed, 2010’s Shutter Island, 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street and the 2015 short film The Audition.

During the recent announcement that Apple has partnered with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio to finance their Killers of the Flower Moon adaptation, Variety revealed that a production start date on the movie has not yet been set, leaving DiCaprio potentially interested in a number of other projects to do before Killers of the Flower Moon gets started. One of the films the Oscar winner is reportedly eyeing is Adam McKay’s Netflix comedy Don’t Look Up.

Don’t Look Up will be written and directed by Adam McKay, who is also set as a producer Hyperobject Industries banner with Kevin Messick. The film will center on two low-level astronomers who have to embark on a media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that is going to destroy Earth.
McKay has had a successful run in the satire genre over the past few years, earning one Oscar nomination and one win for 2016’s The Big Short and three Oscar noms for 2018’s Vice, including Best Picture.

2020.05.28 04:17 LUCIFERYT2019 Instagram entrepreneur pages should stop using Jordan Belfort or the wolf of wall street guy as inspiration

Every time I go to any of these pages I see pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio playing Jordan Belfort next to some cheesy quote like"alone you can do a little, but together we can do much more!" The guy literally scammed so many innocent people, Made hundreds of employees scam other people and even after he was punished for the crimes he committed he just shifted all the blame to his partners to get a shorter sentence.
Yea I understand that he's this really persuasive individual who was really charismatic and all that shit but so was hitler . please stop idealizing con men like these. He is the reason ppl like dan lok and grant cardone exist.

2020.05.23 00:30 Lototskyi90 Neo-bank Aspiration raises $135M in Series C funding round

Neo-bank Aspiration raises $135M in Series C funding round

Neo-bank Aspiration
Aspiration, the fintech startup that’s brought a socially and environmentally conscious twist to the burgeoning realm of digital banking, has sealed a $135 million Series C funding round, Fortune has learned.
The Series C takes Aspiration’s total funding raised to date to more than $200 million, the company said, though it declined to provide a post-round valuation. Existing venture capital investor Alpha Edison led the round and was joined by the likes of UBS O’Connor, DNS Capital, Radicle Impact, Sutter Rock, and Social Impact Finance.
Aspiration intends to use the funds to further grow its services and product offerings, which are currently used by more than 1.5 million customers. The branchless Los Angeles–based bank has positioned itself as a “socially conscious, sustainable” alternative to major financial institutions; customer deposits and investment vehicles like its Redwood Fund are free of fossil-fuel investments, while products and features include “Plant Your Change,” which rounds up debit card purchases to the nearest dollar and uses the change to plant trees.
With the coronavirus pandemic disrupting traditional commerce around the world and keeping many indoors, present-day circumstances appear to lend themselves to tech-enabled, online-only “neo-banks” like Aspiration and rivals Chime and Varo.
Andrei Cherny, Aspiration’s cofounder and CEO, tells Fortune that March and April were the bank’s “two biggest months ever” in terms of debit card transactions, adding that the firm has seen “enormous demand” from its customers for additional “sustainability-focused financial products.”
“I think this crisis is accelerating trends that were already occurring, and one of those is the shift toward digital banking,” Cherny says. “We think that this funding round will allow us to build out America’s preeminent socially conscious financial home for millions of people.”
Aspiration's latest funding round comes in the wake of reports late last year that it was having trouble securing investors for its Series C amid a shaky, post-WeWork private funding environment for startups. While the Series C is by far Aspiration’s largest funding round to date, it falls short of the $200 million that the company was reportedly targeting last spring.
Still, Aspiration managed to seal a larger Series C than its bigger rival Chime, which raised $70 million in May 2018. Chime has since gone on to raise more than $1 billion in total funding at a current valuation of $6 billion, per PitchBook data.
According to Alpha Edison managing partner Nate Redmond, Aspiration’s commitment to social and environmental values differentiates it from major financial institutions that offer a “commodity” banking product. It also addresses some of the “fissures” that have emerged since the global financial crisis between the banking system and an increasingly skeptical general public.
“We see them addressing what’s fundamentally broken in financial services, which is the trust-based relationship between a bank and its customers,” Redmond says. “We had a chance to watch this company operate and to map their progress, and that provided the foundation for us to say, ‘Okay, this company can grow for a long time from a differentiated position.’”
Aspiration and other sustainability-minded financial firms are emerging at a time when ESG investing has gained unprecedented prominence—forcing some of America’s largest financial institutions to recalibrate their own approach to doing business with certain industries.
Among those who have been drawn to Aspiration’s mission include Hollywood actors and environmentalists Leonardo DiCaprio and Orlando Bloom, both of whom are among the startup’s financial backers. DiCaprio joined the company’s board of advisers last year.

Shutter Island (2010): Review
Leonardo DiCaprio plays an up-and-coming U.S. marshal named Teddy Daniels, who is heading to a psychiatric hospital located on a secluded island accompanied by his partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) to investigate the mysterious disappearance of one the institution’s patients. Troubled by his past, and the recent death of his wife (Michelle Williams) in a fire, Daniels faces a lot of trouble with the investigation, and more importantly, his sanity, as we later witness Teddy starting to lose his mind believing everyone is out to get him.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays this role with all his heart, as he delivers an amazing performance in this thriller. The intensity in which he portrayed his character in this piece is nothing less than perfection. The storyline keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats as we also experience Teddy’s paranoia and traumatizing past through the flashbacks and dreams he experiences.
All in all, this film directed by Martin Scorsese is a must-see and is a great experience that leaves viewers dumbfounded with its very detailed storyline that does not fail to impress. Every person with a passionate interest in film should give this work of art the time and attention it deserves.

2020.04.12 23:46 hereiamtosavetheday_ What Global Pandemic?

Uber is offering rides ONLY to Essential Workers. So just fuck off with the madsick Quarantine Denial and self-victimization, bitch. JustNoSO, however, has no issues with this HUGE PLOT HOLE.
OP gets her displaced homophobia and ableism on
I just want to thank everyone who took their time to comment on my previous post. I’m not very active with my reply’s but just know I appreciate all of it. If you click on my profile you’ll be able to see the previous post I did and I didn’t go into too much detail, I just went over the things I could remember.
Attention. OP needs attention, OP wants karma, OP needs to chill on the self-shilling.
So this happened yesterday when we were in an uber.
I was scrolling on Facebook and SO started to complain about how Facebook is bad and that I should get off it. I didn’t want to get off it because I was enjoying reading what my family and friends are up too, I’m hardly ever on the app anyways. He told me to get off it, didn’t ask me but when I said no I’d rather not he got sulky with me. This triggered a panic attack within me and I was trying so hard to not freak the uber driver out. I had to cancel the trip and catch a bus back because I didn’t have enough money to get another uber.
Anyone voluntarily stepped on a public bus lately? This JustNo fanfic writer has written a global lockdown right out of the picture. You realize you can't do that, right?
And again the day was blamed on my mental illness. He’s always telling me to get off my phone, then gets angry at me when I don’t because I’m not listening to him.
Oh hai, Ableism! But someone else said it, not the OP, so its totally not her being Ableist.
Now this morning holy hec. I was talking to my girl friends, I am also a girl, a straight girl so SO has literally nothing to worry about. He got angry at me for messaging my friends. He hates them for some reason but he encouraged me to be friends with those exact people. So what does he do ??? He breaks up with me and leaves. Ok perfect. What does he do next ?? He comes back to throw broken glass shards at my window then stomps on my phone, it only got scratched luckily, super protective phone case.
Why would OP even reach for Homophobia? Sure, let the crazy person with bleeding hands in and give him your phone! Control via Isolation is not a fucking story hook, bitch.
I didn’t know what to do but to call the cops and now I think I’m regretting it. They mentioned they might not even take an AVO out him even though this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, it’s been worse then this before but today was my breaking point.
So now I'm just fucking sad.

A year from now, you’ll be kicking yourself for not doing this a year ago when you could easily have your dream girl at that point. This is it. There’s no one better than me at this stuff. I have nothing to lose. I already know how to get any woman I want. You can be like me in no time at all. Contact me to get started.

2020.02.18 04:49 yredfhcjur8jtfg There is nothing wrong with an older man dating younger women

It wasn't too long ago that there was a massive freak out over the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio has a tendency to date younger women. Since then I've noticed an uptick in people criticizing others for dating much younger than them. For those disgusted or angry at older men who date younger women: Why?
Assuming both partners are over 18, there should be no problem with older male, younger female couples. Assuming both are adults, both partners understand sex and relationships, and both should be competent enough not to be manipulated into it (The exception to this being if one partner is disabled or otherwise stunted in some way, but those are special cases).
Most of the arguments against older male younger female relationships are "It's gross" or "It's creepy", but I'm afraid that those are not valid reasons to say that two people can't form a relationship.

2020.01.07 22:59 sippher How is relationship (romantic/sexual) with age gaps viewed in the wlw community? How prevalent is it?

First of all, I apologize in advance for my bad English, I'm not a native speaker.
So I just saw a post in /dataisbeautiful about Leonardo DiCaprio's dating partners.
I realized that for mlm relationship, it's quite similar, as in, there are lots of young twinks looking for daddies, and daddies looking for young twinks. But I think we differ from the hetero counterpart because I feel the % of mature mlm who are (exclusively? primarily?) into men their age is bigger than % of straight mature men who are into women their age.
But to be fair, my sample size is so limited & wouldn't be a valid one if this were a real research because I just based it from my Grindr experience & gay subreddit users.
Now, I'm a very inexperienced person, I'm a closeted gay guy, I don't have gay or lesbian friends, and I live in a homophobic society, my exposure & experience about the mlm world are so lacking, more so about the wlw counterpart.
I'm curious about the "trend" in wlw relationship, in purely sexual relationships and in romantic ones. Is it similar to the straight counterpart?
And I'm also curious about how relationships with huge age gaps, young-chasers, and old-chasers are viewed in the wlw community.
I hope this is allowed and I hope I don't offend anyone. Thank you so much
((If you want to point out my grammar mistakes, I'd be forever grateful because I love to learn from my mistakes))
Source: https://www.reddit.com/dataisbeautiful/comments/elc8yg/leonardo_dicaprio_refuses_to_date_a_woman_his_age/
And this https://theblog.okcupid.com/the-case-for-an-older-woman-99d8cabacdf5 is also a good read!
edit: Also, I'm also curious about the age preferences in wlw relationships!
Is it more similar to straight men (since you both like women) aka as you get older, you still vastly prefer (much) younger women? Or is it more similar to straight women (since you're both women) aka as you get older, your attraction to younger women declines and you vastly prefer older women/women your age??

2019.11.29 06:09 Pinkpastries91 Is he an asshole, is he gay, or am I crazy?

Me (28F) and my boyfriend (30M) have been together for almost a year now. I was his first girlfriend, first everything. We met on an online dating app. I decided to date him initially because he was very different from my previous relationships, physically and mentally. Previously, I have dated the typical “bad boy” type. Looks and personality included. My current partner is the complete opposite, which I recognize as a good thing! He’s very clean cut and has a very respectable job.
Now, it was very hard for me to wrap my head around how a 29 year old man was still a virgin and had never even kissed a girl, but he checked off all my boxes and was cute, so I went for it! He says this is because he was focused on school (he is a doctor). Now I understand that medical school is very difficult, very important, and very serious. I’m not taking that away from him at all, however, I have friends who have went through medical school and also had romantic relationships. He tells me he has no friends in this area, but he has friends from college. I just met these friends for the first time last week. Very nice people. By contrast, I’m a Pastry Chef, I’ve had several relationships, and I’d consider my look to be “edgy”. We would definitely fit into the “opposites attract” category. He comes from a very strict/religious upbringing. I did not.
When we first started dating, things were great. Now that things are progressing, I have some concerns, and I want to know if they are legitimate or if I’m overreacting. I’ve kinda been a doormat in previous relationships. I’ve been mentally and physically abused. My current boyfriend 100% is not like this. However, I say this because it gives background that I let a lot of things go before I say anything to someone that bothers me. So we don’t have any disagreements or arguments for the first 9 months of our relationship. There are a few key things that I have brought up on several different occasions, which are as follows:
  1. I do not feel like a priority or that I am appreciated in this relationship . I understand he has an important/stressful job. I work a lot of hours at my job and it is very physically demanding. I’m not a “clingy” girlfriend by any means. I don’t like or need a guy to be constantly texting me or up my ass, but I like to be shown I’m appreciated. For example: all but one time I have been the person to initiate “I love you”. I plan almost all of our dates, and I initiate the conversation that happens to make these plans. Our birthdays are a week apart. A few weeks ahead of time I told him a time and date to come to my apartment for his birthday. I cooked him a very nice meal, made him a custom cake that pertained to his job, and made sure there were plenty of leftovers for him for the week. I got him some thoughtful gifts as well. It took me a few weeks to get the supplies for this cake because of the complexity and although I make a fraction of what he makes, I bought birthday decorations, plates, napkins, candles, and overall went out of my way to make him feel special. For my birthday, he told me he planned something special a few weeks prior. I told him I couldn’t wait! & to let me know ahead of time what I should wear. The night before my birthday and I’ve heard nothing related to it, so I ask him what time I should be ready and what I should wear. He told me he didn’t know what time he would be there because he hadn’t made reservations yet, but to wear business casual. At 10:30pm that night, he texted me that he made dinner reservations for 8:30pm the next day because “that’s all they had available”. I was very hurt and upset, because it was obvious this was just an afterthought to him. I brought this up to him. He said he was busy at work, and that I wasn’t an afterthought to him. I was hurt. The next night we went out to dinner at an Italian Restaurant. (I’m Italian). In this same vein, he does not like anything that I post of us on Facebook, but will like and interact with posts of his friends. (I am listed as his girlfriend on Facebook). Also, I was very sick last month. I went to the hospital, got released, and was home. I had to cancel plans I had made for the two of us with my friends because I was in no condition to go out. He was very kind and offered to come over. He brought over egg rolls from his mom. I asked him if he would watch my favorite movie with me. He said yes. I thought this would be a good opportunity to show him how I thought of romance. The movie is The Great Gatsby, the Leo DiCaprio version. I thought maybe seeing this movie would help him understand that I would love a little fairytale movie romance in our relationship. I told him I loved this movie and wished someone would treat me the way Gatsby treated Daisy. He was on his phone the whole time, and wanted to leave before the movie was over. Did not acknowledge how important this parallel was to me.
  2. I brought up moving in together last month and he said he wasn’t ready... this was the first negative serious conversation in our relationship. I was flabbergasted that he wasn’t ready. I had no inkling of this. He listed his reasons being that I was “irresponsible” with money. He listed this reason being that I threw a birthday party for my mom and he thought I spent too much money on “just one day of the year”. This was the only birthday party my mother has ever had in her life. It was not an extravagant function. He said my spending was frivolous. He then brought up my credit score that he had secretly looked up, without my knowledge. Proceeded to tell me how terrible it was and that I can’t be trusted with money. I explained to him that I made a huge mistake and took out credit cards and got into debt to support my ex boyfriend and his child. The credit cards are no longer active and I am paying them back.
  3. When we met I thought he was gay. Our first date I noticed his voice and mannerisms were effeminate. I casually asked him if he identified as straight or bisexual and he said straight. I also asked (before I knew he was a virgin), if he ever hooked up with any guys, and he said no. He does not dress feminine, and does not have close friends that are males. The only friends I have met are female.
  4. My breaking point happened tonight, Thanksgiving. I asked him if he had to work on Christmas or New Years Eve(Our official 1 year anniversary). He told me he had off on Christmas and New Years. He then tells me, very casually, that he is taking his mom to California (we live on the other side of the country), to the see Rose Parade the week of New Years. I am instantly very hurt and upset. His mom is a very sweet lady, and I’m glad he is doing something nice for her. However, he was very romantic last year on how he asked me to be his girlfriend on New Years. It was one of the best days of my life. What every woman would want. I was hurt that not only did he totally disregard our one year anniversary, but also New Years Eve( a romantic holiday) without any thought. When I told him that I was upset, he replied that we could just celebrate it on a different day. I could tell by the tone of his voice that he really didn’t get it at all. My family all started leaving so we said our goodbyes and then he left so we said goodnight. He texted me goodnight when he got home, however I’m still so upset, hurt, and angry. I don’t know what to do.
So, I know this is a lot. I’m coming to this post in desperate need of advice on what to do. Please help me! I’m very confused on where to go from here.

Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio praised teen activist Greta Thunberg in an Instagram post on Friday, calling her "a leader of our time."
DiCaprio has been a vocal environmental activist for years through the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which partners with projects that protect vulnerable wildlife from extinction.
He's produced several documentaries on climate change and animal rights, including "The 11th hour," "Sea of Shadows," "Cowspiracy," "Catching the Sun," "Before the Flood," "The Ivory Game," "A Plastic Ocean" and "Virunga."
Thunberg has become known worldwide for her weekly climate strikes, which she started on her own in 2018.
The teenager has inspired millions of people to spend their Fridays urging their governments to take action against climate change.
Thunberg spoke on Friday at a climate rally in Los Angeles and mentioned wildfires that have recently devastated parts of California.
